Iron Riders National Gathering and Monument Dedication

Join the festivities honoring Buffalo Soldiers on the Quasquicentennial (125th) anniversary of one of their most awesome accomplishments: an arduous 1900-mile cycling trip from Missoula to St. Louis to test the military effectiveness of the bicycle in battle. They completed the 1897 mission in 41 days on one speed, 55 .lbs cycles. The commemoration honors that achievement as well as Buffalo Soldiers’ contributions in the region, including their several deployments to Wallace and North Idaho.
