The Moon Pass road is the quickest route from Wallace into the southern region of Shoshone County community of Avery and the St Joe River.  This road follows the decommissioned Old Milwaukee Railroad grade with seven one lane tunnels before you land in Avery.  There is 30 miles of beautiful scenery to see on your adventure.  The road is maintained by public works and opens to vehicle travelers toward the later part of May depending on tunnel maintenance. During the winter it may be groomed for snowmobiling.
